Warmest greetings from Andy, Daniel, and Frankie in Ithaca, New York. Thank you for visiting our adoption profile and taking time to learn about us. We truly admire your courage as you consider adoption for you and your child.
We’re proud to give you a glimpse into our love for each other and the life we’ve built together as a family. We’re so excited to grow our family in a home that is supportive, accepting, and filled with laughter, fun, and adventure. As you read our profile, we hope you’ll see that we have so much love to give!
We met in 2009 in New York City. Our relationship got serious pretty quickly and within six months we moved in together. We were married in the Catskills surrounded by friends and family in 2015. We spent a number of very happy years in Brooklyn before we moved to Ithaca, New York in 2017 to support Daniel’s career as a college professor. It was a big change from the city but we love the natural beauty of the Finger Lakes area and the charm of a small college town. We continue to own our home in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn and visit NYC as often as we can.
We share so many common interests and enjoy spending time together. Whether we’re making a dinner and staying home to watch a movie, going on a hike, seeing theater or traveling to a new and exciting destination, we’re always having a good time. One of our favorite things to do is make each other laugh by joking around and being goofy. We like to make up songs and sing them to each other. We enjoy dinners together and “family time” every evening before bed.
Our relationship is one built on mutual respect and support for each other, and we have a common belief system centered on social justice and equality. We’re curious about the world around us and love to explore new places and ideas.
Our friends and family are incredibly important to us so we try to see them as often as we can. We take pleasure in hosting people at our home for casual gatherings and parties to celebrate birthdays or any special occasion we can come up with.
We enjoy exploring the world with Frankie and include her as an active participant in all of our adventures. Holidays are a particularly fun time for us and we’ve created many traditions around Halloween, Christmas, and Hanukah. Let’s just say we go a little overboard with the decorating. Frankie loves it even more than we do.
We’re so excited to expand our family through adoption and can’t wait to share our love with a child. Franke is super excited about becoming a big sister too.
We are potential adoptive parents Andy and Daniel from Ithaca, NY. We are currently looking to adopt a child. We may be reached through our adoption agency, Friends in Adoption and will gladly answer any questions that you may have for us. We are hopeful, eager, and legally approved to adopt a baby anywhere in the United States, and we hope to hear from you! 🙂

“Andy was born in a suburb of Detroit as the oldest of three. He has two younger sisters and he is very close to them. Andy is very invested in his relationships with his family members and his hometown. Each time we visit for a holiday, I have a deeper understanding of these strong roots. Andy still maintains many long-term friendships from his time in Michigan. I am impressed with his loyalty, compassion, and dedication to his family and friends. Most importantly, Andy’s an amazing father to our daughter, Frankie.
Andy has always been an extremely driven person, and this is reflected in his dedication to his career. Andy works as a consultant in the healthcare industry. His job allows him the ability to work with hospitals in different parts of the country. Andy has a deep commitment to make the world a better place and this is reflected in his dedication to health care. He has an extremely disciplined work ethic that extends beyond his job to our home. He is organized, methodical, and diligent and likes to do projects around the house. He thinks about the world in a thoughtful way, always trying to look at each subject matter from multiple viewpoints.
As a partner, Andy is my ideal match. He is my best friend. He laughs at my jokes (even when he doesn’t think they’re that funny.) He is patient, compassionate, funny, thoughtful, and loving.
Children are drawn to Andy. He has a gentle and playful spirit and, when we’re visiting friends or relatives with kids, Andy’s often off playing with them.
Andy is a gentle, affectionate parent, while also providing structure. He establishes routines for Frankie so she knows what to expect when she wakes up, when she gets home from school and when she’s getting ready for bed. He’s patient with Frankie, providing guidance and support whenever needs it.
In addition to Andy’s relaxed personality, he is also always ready for a new adventure. He loves exploring the world, whether that be our current town, a hiking trail nearby, or another country. I am excited to be on this journey with him and hopefully our expanded family in the future!” —Daniel

“Daniel was born in the Pacific Northwest in a small logging town in Washington state. He’s the youngest of three boys. Daniel has a close knit family and they welcomed me into their group with open arms. He was also fortunate to develop many lasting and strong friendships throughout his life and, although several of his friends still live on the west coast, he maintains strong relationships with them to this day. That’s one of the things I admire most about Daniel — his commitment to friends and family.
Daniel is an incredibly talented theater set designer, which is an interest he developed as a child. He has such a creative mind and I love to watch the way he develops ideas and makes them a reality on the stage. This creativity extends to many parts of our lives, such as when Daniel is decorating our home, creating fun gatherings with friends or doing art projects.
Daniel found a new passion — teaching. He loves his job as a Professor of Theater Design at a nearby college. I’m so impressed by the energy, patience, and commitment he brings to his students. He continues his professional set design work while also teaching, so he knows how to juggle many priorities at once.
Daniel is a special father to our daughter, Frankie. He encourages her creativity and self-expression, nurturing her interests in art and music. Daniel and Frankie spend a lot of quality time together, whether baking, cooking, painting, or relaxing. He’s also highly affectionate and enjoys lots of cuddle time with Frankie.
Daniel has an outrageous sense of humor and he loves to be the life of the party. Imagine how much fun that makes life for me! He’s also sensitive and caring and absolutely adores our nieces, nephews, and the children of our dearest friends.
Daniel loves animals, especially Guinea pigs and chickens.
Most importantly, Daniel is an amazing husband and life partner. He’s caring and supportive and totally dedicated to building our family together.” —Andy
Francesca (we call her Frankie) is an incredibly special three-year-old. She entered our lives on September 8, 2018 and we’ve been a close-knit family ever since. Frankie’s outgoing, affectionate, and always looking for ways to be helpful. She’s fiercely independent and likes to do things for herself whenever possible.
At the age of 18 months, Frankie began attending a Montessori school. She enjoys her class because it’s social and teaches her practical life skills in an open, supportive environment.
Frankie loves books and is often asking us to read to her or she’s looking at books on her own. Some of her favorite books include Curious George, Peter Rabbit, and any book about holidays and celebrations. We enjoy going to the library for Saturday story time or to check out some new books. We also like looking at the animals at the nature center or the dinosaur bones at the Museum of the Earth here in town. Frankie’s been in a “dinosaur phase” for quite a while and can name many of the dinosaur types.
Frankie has been a good sleeper and eater since birth. She eats what we eat for meals and is almost always willing to try new things. She enjoys being in the kitchen, helping wherever she can. She’s especially excited to help us bake treats like cookies and cupcakes.
Frankie just loves to paint, draw, and color. We have a few walls filled with her creations. She’s recently discovered board games and every evening asks us to play a game such as Candyland or Chutes and Ladders. When the weather’s nice, she wants to be at the playground, swinging, sliding, jumping, and hanging. We enrolled her in gymnastics and swim classes, and now plan to try out dance and sports classes.
We cherish the ongoing relationship we have developed with Frankie’s birth mom. We exchange texts every Sunday evening, a tradition we started when Frankie was born. We also create and send a photo book every three to six months. We visited her in Texas and she has visited us several times in Ithaca. Frankie is just learning about adoption and the meaning of “birth mom,” but she has developed a special relationship with her birth mom already.
Frankie is ready and excited to be a big sister. She will be a great teacher and helper to a younger brother or sister. She’s excited to have a new playmate and lifelong friend!
We were thrilled to expand our family in 2018 when we adopted our amazing daughter, Francesca. We call her Frankie.
Every adoption is unique, and the story of Frankie’s adoption is one that we will cherish forever. We received a call on a Saturday morning notifying us that we had been selected by a mother in labor. A few hours later, we were at the hospital to witness Frankie’s birth that same evening.
Frankie is an affectionate, thoughtful, high energy and creative three-year-old. We maintain a special relationship with Frankie’s birth mom, texting with her every Sunday and planning visits several times a year.
Frankie’s birth mom was excited to hear the news that we plan to adopt again. She was thrilled to hear that Frankie will have a sibling. We are so grateful that she offered to share her story and photos as part of our adoption profile.
We recognize that our next adoption story may be completely different. Please know that we respect your perspective and whatever adoption plans you may choose.
We live in the town of Ithaca, located in upstate New York about half way between Syracuse and Rochester. Our house is an old Victorian with lots of room to explore and spread out. Frankie has a dedicated play area and a bedroom of her own.
The town is surrounded by natural beauty, including lakes, waterfalls, and forests. Ithaca is a vibrant community and is home to Cornell University and Ithaca College. It’s a stimulating place to live with art, culture, music, food, and outdoor activities.
Our home is located in a neighborhood close to downtown Ithaca and also close to Lake Cayuga, one of the largest Finger Lakes. We enjoy swimming, boating, and kayaking when the weather is nice. The restaurants and attractions of Downtown Ithaca are a short walk away and we are close to many nature trails and state parks.
There are many families in the area and lots of great activities for children, including the Children’s Museums, a Children’s Garden, and a great Library. All of these things and more make Ithaca a wonderful place to call home. New York City is about a 4-hour drive away and we try to make the trip every few months to visit friends and take advantage of the big city.
We also own a home in the Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn in New York City. The area is vibrant and very diverse. We enjoy getting to know our neighbors and spending time in the community. We rent the house to tenants and visit when we can. The house is an old brownstone and has a nice backyard and lots of character.
We are very close to our families and truly value the deep connections we have built with them throughout our lives. Each of us had very different experiences growing up, but we both received support, structure, and most importantly love. These values are what we hope to bring to our own family. Our goal is to support a child and create a nurturing environment that allows them to grow, be happy, and feel safe.
Andy is very close with his two sisters, his two nieces, and nephew as well as his mom, father and step-mother. He makes three to four trips to Michigan each year to visit with them. Over time, we have built family traditions, including visits to the Detroit zoo, camping trips, and annual adventures to the nearby Christmas village of Frankenmuth. Creating and maintaining these traditions are very important to us because they bring us closer together.
Andy’s mom lives in Florida and we enjoy going down to visit her every year. Mom takes us to the beach or on shopping trips when we visit and she loves to shower her grandkids with love and attention.
Daniel is the youngest of three boys. Though his family lives on the west coast, he maintains a very close relationship with his brothers and parents. Growing up, Daniel’s interests were very different from his brothers. While they enjoyed sports, his interests were in art and theatre. His parents were very supportive and encouraged Daniel to pursue his passions by enrolling him in classes and camps. We have enjoyed nurturing Frankie’s interests and looking forward to nurturing the interests of our next child.
We visit Oregon and Washington several times a year so we can spend time with family. Daniel’s brother lives in Seattle with his son and Daniel’s second brother also lives in Washington. They all love to entertain and host us when we visit. We enjoy going to the Oregon coast to walk on the beach or to Portland to explore great restaurants and cultural events.
Our entire family absolutely adores Frankie. She has frequent check ins via FaceTime and Zoom and they cherish the time they spend with her during visits. Everyone is so excited for us to expand our family further!
We consider our friends an important part of our extended family and enjoy spending time together whenever we can. Our group of friends often gets together to celebrate birthdays, holidays, or other special events. We take vacations together, including ski trips to Vermont or Colorado, an annual trip to Asbury Park, NJ around Memorial Day, New Year’s Eve gatherings, beach trips, and summer vacations to the Massachusetts cape.
We have an eclectic group of friends including artists, actors, teachers, and writers. Some are single, while some are partnered or married. Some have kids and some do not. A number of our friends have adopted children and we have benefited from learning about their amazing experiences.
Frankie has built strong friendships with many of our friends’ children, including Leo, Lucy, Joey, and June.
We have many shared hobbies and interests. We both love to travel and explore new places. In addition to visiting family and friends who live in other parts of the country, we also like to take vacations. Some of our favorite destinations have been Hawaii, Vietnam, Thailand, Italy, and Greece.
We both love the outdoors, so we enjoy going on camping trips, hiking, kayaking and biking. Our favorite camping destinations have been Glacier National Park in Montana and the Cascade Mountains in Washington.
Another shared interest is completing do-it-yourself projects around the house. We both love holidays and have built many traditions — such as cutting down the Christmas tree, setting up our Halloween village, baking holiday treats, and hosting 4th of July barbeques.
Fitness is another shared interest. We like to go to the gym or take the occasional yoga class. A few years back, Daniel ran the New York City Marathon.
Frankie enjoys books so we read to her several times a day. Painting and drawing are some of her favorite activities and she does them at school and home frequently. She’s a big helper in the kitchen and loves to bake cookies and cupcakes. Frankie’s social so she enjoys playing with her friends at school. She’s also quite active and enjoys gymnastics classes, swim lessons and dancing around the house.
Daniel is an excellent cook and he enjoys finding and trying new recipes. He also likes to stay up to date on news and current events so he reads lots of newspapers, blogs and web sites. Daniel also enjoys art projects, such as drawing and model building.
Andy is a music enthusiast so he enjoys finding interesting bands and discovering new music. He collects records and enjoys going to concerts. He also enjoys gardening and has developed a pretty good green thumb.
While Daniel cooks most meals, Andy likes to bake and create desserts (of course he has a sweet tooth). He likes to ski in the winter and is excited to get Frankie of skis soon.
Andy also enjoys college sports, especially football. His team is the University of Michigan Wolverines.
