We are fortunate to have two states that we call home — Ohio and New York. We both grew up in upstate NY, where we have lived most of our lives, but have relocated to Southwest Ohio. In Ohio, we live in a 3-bedroom home with a large fenced-in back yard on a quiet tree-lined street in a college town outside of Cincinnati. We are within 2 miles of Miami University where there are many family activities, art spaces, and cultural events to enjoy. We live close to several town parks and recreational centers, one of which has a waterslide park! We are walking distance from a cute downtown and our local elementary school is just around the corner.
Our town is very dog-friendly, and we spend much time bringing our dog Yonder to play in the local dog park as well as the many nearby nature preserves. When we feel like we want to explore the bigger city, we enjoy the easy drive to Cincinnati and the many restaurants, museums, sporting events, and riverside activities that it has to offer.
Since we both have very flexible work schedules, we spend several months a year in New York, where we visit friends and family, as well as a cabin we built where we spend time camping and enjoying the Adirondack Mountains. We have often fantasized about the day when we could bring a child to this special place and let them experience the wonders of nature. Both in Ohio and New York, we are surrounded by neighbors and friends that have children and are thankful for the diverse opportunities our home states offer.
