Tonya

“Tonya is first and foremost a light, easygoing person. She is humane, warm, funny, and a free spirit. She will get ruffled at injustice. Tonya is always open to new situations and new experiences, epitomized by never being shy when she enters a room. Tonya embraces her wanderlust which has resulted in great international trips for us across three continents. Tonya loves to dance, which is apt because she’s risen to the top of a career in dance.

Tonya is from a quiet suburban community in Dayton, Ohio and is very proud of her midwestern roots. She’s a twin, and is especially close to her sister Tracy, to the extent that going more than a day without talking is rare. Tonya is also proud of how close she is to her whole family, who by all accounts fostered a very happy upbringing. Her family puts great effort into making special days extra special, especially Christmas, a tradition that Tonya has worked hard to maintain even as she’s moved away from family.

Tonya left home to study Musical Theatre. She knew even then that her goal was to dance on Broadway and set about tirelessly achieving that goal. She moved to New York City to start making a living on stage, spending years on tour with various shows and seeing the world. She was then invited to join the company of a hit Broadway show, where she remains today. Through force of will, Tonya made it happen, she achieved her dream, occupying a coveted spot in her field. She’s a great mover, a lovely dancer and is passionate about her craft — it shows on stage.

In keeping with her movement acumen, Tonya also earned teaching certifications for both adult yoga and kids yoga. She has cultivated a great passion for instilling in kids the virtues of mindfulness, body awareness, and the courage to discover their abilities.

As much as being a great daughter and sister have defined her, Tonya is at her absolute best as a mom. She’s deeply devoted to our son Keaton, and is a skilled, natural educator guiding him every day with encouragement and love. With all the love she has to give Tonya will be a superb mother to the child that completes our family.”
