We are Tom, Kathleen, and Billy.
First, we would like to express our admiration for you for taking these steps to consider adoption for your child. It takes courage and strength. Truly a selfless act that speaks volumes about the person you are. Thank you.
We hope our profile will provide you with a comforting feeling about who we are and the kind of family we will be to your child if you select us. We promise you that your child would be loved unconditionally. We would live each day, making unforgettable memories and building a happy and safe life for him or her.
As a couple, the two of us started dating in 2004 after running into each other at a Halloween party. From the very beginning, we could tell being together just felt right. We cannot think of a better person to have by each other’s side. We believe that we are genuinely good people. We look for the positive in everything and we know the value of being there for others. We can both be a bit silly at times and joke around, but it always comes with a good heart.
The years flew by as we dated. We traveled, worked on our careers, adopted our first pet, bought our first home, adopted three more pets, and attended many wedding celebrations of our friends and family. After eight long years, we finally had a wedding of our own in September of 2012. It was a beautiful and fun celebration, with our families and close friends there with us. It was perfect. Shortly after the wedding, Kathleen became pregnant 😊 and in 2013 our son Billy was born.
Billy exceeded everything we imagined in our hearts. With each passing year, he has found ways to amaze us. He is silly, loving, and everything that is right in the world. We both have always dreamed of having a large family like the ones we grew up in, and are very happy with the prospect of expanding our family further by adopting a child. Things may be challenging at times, but we both know we are blessed.
We have been surrounded by friends and family members who have and continue to be there for us. They played a big part in making us who we are today, and we love them completely. They helped us to become optimistic, caring, and patient.
Good things will come.

“Tom is a strong, ambitious, hardworking man. Throughout our time together, he has taken on many responsibilities. From completing many home renovations and repairs, auto repairs, to even taking on a second job when needed. He is always willing to help and support his family with no questions asked. Every task he faces, he tackles head on, and is never afraid to learn new things along the way. Friends and family often reach out to Tom for help on their projects too because they know he is good at what he does and his answer will always be, ‘Yes!’
Making friends has always been easy for Tom. He is extremely outgoing and sociable. Not only has he remained close with his childhood friends, but he is constantly expanding that circle. That is something I admire about him. Tom is also someone who is always ready to help others, whether he knows them or not. If he sees someone in need, he jumps right in to help. It puts a huge smile on my face to see someone treating others with compassion and respect. The world needs more people like this, and I am fortunate to have found one of those people to call my husband. He is a good man with a big heart. That being said, he also knows how to make time for himself too. Tom will run off to play hockey with his friends, go fishing off the local dock, park his butt on the couch to watch his sports and of course take much needed naps. (I suppose he deserves a few of those.)
Being with Tom for over 17 great years, we have shared many memorable moments. Out of all the journeys we have been on so far, I have enjoyed watching Tom grow as a father the most. From the moment our son Billy was born, Tom slipped into that dad role effortlessly. He knows how important it is to be there and to make time for a child. To teach, support, and of course PLAY. Even when he was working long exhausting hours, he always made time. Watching Tom transform in this way, made me fall in love with him in a whole new way.”

“She leads with a smile. Kathleen has a great outlook on life and an ability to find happiness in every part of it. She is kindhearted, caring, and our family’s greatest inspiration.
Kathleen ADORES kids. Kathleen grew up around children. Some of Kathleen’s favorite memories were from when her mom watched her three nieces. Kathleen would race home from school every day and soak up as much time with them as she could. Now we have our son Billy to laugh and play with. Kathleen loves to nurture his impressionable mind and makes sure to fill it with all kinds of amazement and fantastic memories. No wonder our holidays are always over the top and full of magic!
Kathleen puts a lot of thought and creativity into everything she does. She enjoys planning all kinds of excursions for us, from visits to the aquarium or fun at the playground to more ambitious family adventures to Disney World. Kathleen knows children need excitement, joy, and something to look forward to in life. There is a happiness that comes over her as she orchestrates and anticipates these adventures.
She is also not afraid to get down in the dirt to look for bugs, have a water balloon fight, or try her hand at sports. If it will bring a smile to Billy’s face, Kathleen is ready to do it. These moments are what Kathleen loves the most in life. She was born to be a mother, and nothing makes her happier.
Kathleen is also very strong. When her father had a heart attack, he spent months in the hospital before passing. During that time, Kathleen dedicated herself to taking care of her family. She took on many responsibilities. Taking the reins on hard and upsetting tasks, so others did not have to. She also managed to show up every day with a smile on her face and encouraging words, and remained positive when there seemed to be no hope. Kathleen always puts others before herself, and somehow, in the most stressful and scariest days, she managed to be a light for her whole family.
Kathleen has a genuine and good soul. She values others and brings happiness to our lives. She is Billy’s and my best friend, and I love her completely.”
Billy is an amazing 8-year-old. He is very bright, with an extremely curious mind. When Billy discovers a new topic of interest, his little brain cannot wait to learn all about it. He will ask questions, read books, or go outside and explore. Whatever Billy learns, he cannot wait to share it with us. It is adorable and very enlightening. We have never been more knowledgeable about marine life, bugs, or even prehistoric sea creatures (these are his latest obsessions).
When Billy is drawing or playing with his Legos, it is impressive to see what he comes up with. He has a vivid imagination and takes a lot of pride in his creations. Billy will insist on taking pictures of the Lego builds, and we cannot even begin to tell you how much saved artwork we have around our house! Let’s just say we could probably fill a swimming pool!
Even though Billy is fond of all animals, it will have to be cats if you ask for his favorite. The boy LOVES cats! Each Birthday wish or coin in the fountain, he is asking for 100 kitty cats. I think we have the makings of a “crazy cat lady” on our hands! It is no wonder our cat Remi is his sidekick. The cat follows him everywhere, meowing, and looking for attention. Billy has even taught Remi how to play fetch with his toys. It is funny to watch. Small toys go flying across our house, followed by a grey blur of fur. Swoosh! Then Remi always brings the toy right back and drops it in Billy’s hand for the next toss. Our dogs never understood how to play, but now our cat does. 😊 Seems a bit backward.
There is only one thing we wish for Billy that would make these little moments in life a bit sweeter, and that would be if he could share them with a little brother or sister. Billy enjoys spending time with his family and friends, but like us, he prays for a day when our family will grow.
Kraut is our sweet old man who has been with us through 3 moves. He is a hotdog with wobbly back legs and loads of missing teeth. These troubles do not stop him though, he is obsessed with chasing the hose water and is the pet with the biggest appetite. Go figure! He will forever have the spirit of a young puppy.
Our Lulu is the only lady. She puts up with a lot from the boys. She is our sweet kitty who just wants to be loved and pet. She spends her days laying by the window in the sunlight. She acts like the little mommy of the group and takes care of the others. We often find her licking and cleaning the dogs and if someone is whining, she races over to see what the matter is.
Oh Monty, he is our short and stout hound dog. He is a Basset Hound, Bull Dog mix with a heart on his side. *adorable* Although he can sometimes get himself into trouble for stealing our food or being too pushy, he is a big mush and gives the best hugs! He also loves to be the center of attention and will often sit right on top of poor Kraut just to get under the petting hands.
Is he a cat or a dog?? We cannot tell. Remi is the youngest of the bunch, and boy does he act it. Our poor couch is taking a beating while he finds his way. He runs around the house like a torpedo, constantly meowing to tell us all about his day. If we stop to sit for a minute, this mushy furball pops up to give us all kinds of affection. He is very loving.
Our home is located in the beautiful south shore region of Long Island, New York. We live on a charming, peaceful block surrounded by wonderful neighbors. There is a nice mix of established families with lots of young children, new couples just starting out, and also neighbors who have enjoyed living here for decades. We were lucky to stumble upon our house in 2018 and jumped at the chance. Sure, some work was needed on the home, but it allowed us to put our mark on it. With most of our family living only four blocks to just a 15-minute car ride away, it was an opportunity we could not pass up!
Our town is a great place to live with lots to offer. We are close to lovely little beaches and piers. There are shops, restaurants, and playgrounds to explore. We have an incredible library close by, and our school district is exceptional. We are grateful to have found such a perfect place to call home.
Family means everything to us!
We are both very fortunate to have loving and supportive families.
They are at the center of our world.
Tom is one of 4 children. He grew up in a nice neighborhood surrounded by family and friends. Tom learned the value of working hard to provide for one’s family at an early age, as was demonstrated by his parents. But work isn’t everything. His parents made sure to teach their children that one must make time for their family too. His family loved to spend time together and shared many of the same friends and interests. There were block parties, long bike rides, lazy Sundays by the pool, celebrations, and days just hanging around being silly together. Their sense of humor shines. His family also excelled at sports. His parents spent many days and nights at practices and games, cheering them all on as their #1 fans. It’s fair to say that growing up for Tom was a blast. There is also a lot of compassion in his family. They share a love for animals — dogs in particular. They all have a softness in their hearts and care for them as an extension to their family.
After Tom’s parents divorce, his siblings leaned on each other and found positives to the situation. Both of Tom’s parents still live close by, and each still makes the time to be with the family. His mother has since remarried, and Tom gained a wonderful stepfather. He is a kind man who was accepted into the family easily.
Over the years, Tom’s family continued to grow. All of his siblings got married and started families of their own. To date, we have six nieces and nephews on his side of the family, all close in age. The kids love to get together and play with their cousins. Holidays, Birthdays, and many days in between!
Tom’s family is special. They are all welcoming, supportive, and caring and make anyone feel at home.
Kathleen grew up in an old historic home on a beautiful street, where her mother still lives. Kathleen is the youngest of 4 daughters. Her father was a big child at heart, loved his children, and had a laugh that could be heard down the block. Kathleen’s mother was a “stay at home mom” who cared not only for her children but often watched friends, family, and neighborhood children as well. She opened her home up to anyone and never asked for anything in return. Kathleen loved being home with her mom when she was younger. They always had fun together. Her mom is creative, entertaining, and has a heart as big as the moon.
Like many families, they had certain routines. Dinners were eaten together each night, there were warm rolls and bakery on Sunday mornings, and they had weekly game nights with Aunts and Uncles. Doing chores was important, and they learned tasks could be enjoyable when they helped each other. They were taught to be respectful, helpful, and kind. As they are older, Kathleen’s family enjoys being together whenever they get the chance. They speak on the phone daily, have weekly game nights and dinners, and even run errands together. Kathleen’s mom still likes to come by and watch Billy when she can. Not much has changed over the years.
Sadly, Kathleen’s father passed away. It was one of the most challenging times for her family, but they were strong and took care of each other. They find happiness in his memories and felt blessed that they were able to laugh with him until the very end. His stories will forever be told, bringing smiles to their faces.
In a nutshell – Kathleen’s family will always make sure to smile, laugh, and have fun spending time with the people they love.
The following words were kindly written about us, by our family and friends:
Our rag-tag bunch have been together, laughing through all the great times and supporting each other through the tough ones, and we wouldn’t or couldn’t have had it any other way. None of us are biologically related, but that has never stopped us from being a dedicated and loving family, Tom and Kathleen are at the heart of it. They are two of the most loving, hardworking, and kind people I have ever met. Their son Billy is an amazing little man who is a joy to be around, due to how he was raised, in addition to who he is as a person. They complement each other so well, both being tenacious, playful, dependable, and loyal, truly a great team.”
When my older sister and I were young, we stayed at my grandparent’s house every day while our parents were at work. Almost every day after school Kathleen would rush home to help watch us and play with us as much as possible. Kathleen was born to be a mom. She has always wanted to have a huge loving family, like the one she had growing up, and she was able to find Tom who completely shares her dream. We have such a close family, emotionally and physically, so Kathleen and Tom are surrounded by a fantastic support system.”
