Hello from New York, New York!

Hello, we are Ryan and Kristen from Harlem, New York. First, we want to acknowledge that we are in awe of your strength and the courage it takes as you contemplate making this decision. We hope whatever path you ultimately choose, it supports your well being and your future. We are both so excited to expand our family through adoption. Our hope is that as you read through our adoption profile, you will see the loving home and family we have created for a child.

Our Story

We met in July of 2015 in New York City at a mutual friend’s party. There was an instant connection and we haven’t been far apart from each other since. Ryan is a real estate and construction manager for an international retail brand. He loves his work and is passionate about creating fun and well-designed spaces for people to enjoy. Kristen is a non-profit fundraiser. She is passionate about raising funds for missions that improve our communities, our well being, and our planet. We are both enthusiastic about our jobs and work hard at them. We have intentionally created an environment where we can both be home to raise a child, by working from home and for companies we’re passionate about. We hope to support the passions of a child one day so they can also pursue something they love.

We got married in 2020 under a covered bridge in New England in an intimate ceremony surrounded by our immediate families and the warm colors of fall. We currently reside in New York City and love to take day trips to explore what the Tri-State Region, New England, and beyond have to offer.

Since we first met, we have always felt strongly that we wanted to adopt a child. The conversation felt easy and natural to both of us when we first discussed it early on while dating. We are excited to have built a great starting point for a family full of love and support. We can’t wait to include a child. Together, we’re looking forward to creating a tight-knit family and a home full of laughter, adventures, love, family, and friends.

We hope to support the passions of a child one day so they can pursue something they love.

1. The first two years of our relationship were long distance from Los Angeles to New York City.
2. We love our morning routine which includes walking our two dogs, Shiloh and Bille, to get coffee.
3. We both love to create memories through travel and trying new foods.
4. Our siblings are growing their families as well and our nieces and nephews are excited to welcome cousins to the family!
5. We love living in New York City, in our diverse neighborhood. We balance our time in the city by spending time in nature while visiting our families in Maine and Florida.
6. On weekends we love to take road trips exploring new towns in the Tri-state area.
7. Kristen is a fundraising professional who develops engagement programs for non-profit organizations.
8. Ryan is a development and construction manager for international retail brands.
9. One of our favorite things to do is cook a big breakfast on Sunday morning while listening to Bill Withers and dancing around the kitchen.
10. We have a close knit group of friends that love and support our adoption journey.

Ryan has a very silly and playful side that he displays with those close to him. His humor compliments his hard work.

Ryan’s family is his world and he is extremely close with his parents, sister, niece, and nephew. Watching him interact with love and patience to those around him is such a privilege and I’m honored to have been chosen as someone he shares that with.

Together, we love to explore and create new memories, truly cherishing our time spent together.

“Kristen is a compassionate, driven woman that’s always willing to go the extra mile for those she loves. She naturally lights up every room she finds herself in and people gravitate towards her warm, welcoming personality.

Whether it’s knowing the right thing to say to someone having a bad day or making a stranger smile on the subway, she is always at home in any situation.

Kristen is very passionate about her work and the difference it makes in the world. It’s important to her that the non-profit missions she supports have the resources to make a significant impact.

Kristen’s friends are a very important part of her life. She’s also an amazing host, going the extra mile to make sure everyone has a special moment when they’re in our home.

Kristen is always up for a new adventure and loves the adventures we have with our two dogs the most.

As a parent and a partner, I know her patience and huge heart will make her an amazing mom. I will be fortunate to be there by her side and watch it happen.”

Our Home

We love exploring New York and all it has to offer

Our home is located on a quiet street in Harlem in New York City. We live on a beautiful brownstone lined street that reminds one of historic New York. We are very proud of our warm, comfortable, and welcoming home.

We are blocks away from our favorite parks, where we love to walk our dogs and watch the seasons change.

We live in the kind of neighborhood where our local coffee shop knows our order and the bagel shop recognizes our dogs when they’re patiently waiting out front.

We love exploring New York and all it has to offer as much as curling up on a couch in our pajamas, enjoying a silly show and take out.

Our Friends and Family

There’s no shortage of family members and friends who love and support our decision to grow our family through adoption

We have a close knit circle of friends that feel like an extension of our family. They may be located throughout the country in Colorado, Texas and California but as soon as we all get together it feels like we were never apart. It leaves us a long list of places to visit and it’s always a welcome feeling being away from home but arriving to a loving hug from one of our friends. We have a few very close friends that we see regularly for holidays and puppy play dates. They’re a big part of our lives and the love and support we receive from them is irreplaceable. We have shared our plan to begin our adoption journey and all of our friends, near and far, can’t wait to love on the new addition to our family.

Ryan’s parents, Nancy and Gary, are a short road trip away in Maine and we see them on a regular basis. We spend lots of time cooking in the kitchen and taking long walks in the woods when we’re there. Maine is the gathering point for his side of the family and it’s typical to spend a Thanksgiving together with lots of cooking, a fire in the fireplace, and kids running around the house. They can’t wait to help us when the baby arrives. One more grandchild joining our family will be celebrated and welcomed by everyone. Ryan’s older sister, Jillian and her two kids currently live in North Carolina. They can’t wait to meet their new cousin!

Kristen’s sister, Bridget, lives close by in New York City so she is never far from our lives and her brother, Mike, is in the armed forces so although he relocates regularly, he is always in close contact and updating the family on his travels. The three are very close and are often found together on FaceTime laughing until they cry. Much of Kristen’s family resides in Florida and we road trip there every Christmas. She has a large extended family that celebrates together every year. With 20 or more people regularly attending there’s no shortage of aunts, uncles, and cousins that love and support our decision to grow our family through adoption.

Our loving family members and our loyal friends are here for each other, no matter what. We feel so very blessed to have many wonderful people in our lives!

Meet Shiloh and Bille

Shiloh and Bille are our two very loved dogs, who are big parts of our lives.

Shiloh was adopted from a local humane society in 2011. He loves long walks on Saturday mornings and napping the day away. He can always be found on his favorite blue couch.

Bille was adopted in 2020. She loves children and her tail wagging goes into overdrive whenever we see them in the park. Her favorite thing in the world is fetch with a tennis ball.

Bille keeps Shiloh young and Shiloh has shown Bille the ropes of what it’s like to be a dog in New York City. The two are the best of friends and are often found playing tug of war with one of their toys or happily napping the afternoon away on opposite sides of the couch.

If you are facing an unplanned pregnancy and considering adoption for your unborn baby (or if you are considering placing an already born child), please know that Friends in Adoption (FIA), is kind, caring, friendly, understanding, and ethical. They are a nonprofit organization offering free adoption information for pregnant women considering adoption, without ever putting any pressure on you to make a decision.

Should you decide on adoption, FIA will provide you with the choices you have in creating an adoption plan that fits YOU and your needs. FIA will offer you great resources such as free counseling and free legal assistance. They will also support you with medical and living expenses, as the law allows.
