Hello from the Northern California Coast!

We’re Tanner and Wesley writing from our home in Pacifica, California. We are so grateful that you’re taking the time to learn more about us. First, we want to express our love and support for you during this time. We can only attempt to understand the emotions involved and admire your courage and bravery; we hope to have the opportunity to meet you.

We have been blessed with a family that loves us, a home filled with laughter, and adventures that have helped us grow. Our hearts and home are ready to create new experiences to share, love, and cherish with a child.

We are hopeful that through this brief glimpse of our lives, our home, and our family, we are able to express the deep love we have for one another and can share in our dream to grow our family through adoption.

We have found joy and happiness and are always finding new adventures in life

As cheesy as it may sound, we truly are two parts that make a whole. Our lives collided in 2009 while living in Arizona, Wesley was finishing his degree at Arizona State University and Tanner decided to take a leap on life and move to Arizona from New York City. We both had a similar upbringing, we were both born in Northern Utah and were raised by loving families in a strong community; this gave us plenty to talk about which extended our first date late into the night; talking, laughing, and smiling about our similar life experiences leading up to that point.

It was on that first date that we both knew we found something special, we have been together ever since, going on twelve years. During that time, we found our sweet puppy, Wesley proposed to Tanner in Paris, we made a lifelong commitment to each other through marriage, moved from Arizona to Texas, and we are now planting our roots here in California. We both have a passion for travel and embarking on new adventures, but most often we love to spend time at home with friends and family, enjoying the California weather, beaches, hiking trails, and parks.

Our lives together have grown with every new adventure and milestone which has brought us to this moment. We know that our foundation is strong and we can’t wait to share our life with a child that we can take on new adventures, love unconditionally, and cherish for the rest of our lives.

At a Glance: 10 Things to Know About Us

1. We met in 2009 when we were both living in Phoenix, Arizona. We found our dog Chance in 2010, bought our first home together in Laveen, Arizona in 2011, and were married in Santa Ana, California in 2013.
2. We love children and enjoy spending time with our seven nephews and twelve nieces whenever we can! We have two nieces and a nephew nearby in San Jose and are able to get together often.
3. We live on the Northern California coast in Pacifica, a suburb ten miles south of San Francisco. We’re just a few minutes from the beach, and love to go on evening walks on the beach to watch the sunset.
4. We love to travel together and explore new countries and immerse ourselves in the local culture. Our favorite place to visit is Hawaii and we make frequent trips to the islands. We also love to visit our families in Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Arizona, and Texas.
5. Wesley is an architect and is incredible at building and designing spaces. He’s made huge improvements in every home we’ve owned, including our current backyard oasis with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean.
6. Tanner works as a Senior HR Manager for a well-known tech company in San Francisco. He fell in love with the field of HR in college and loves helping companies design programs to help employees thrive.
7. Tanner enjoys cooking (Wesley cleans!) and we both enjoy baking, especially during the holidays.
8. We like to keep active by jogging, biking, playing pickleball, and downhill skiing.
9. Wesley comes from a family of nine children and Tanner comes from a blended family with two older brothers and two younger sisters. Family is so important to both of us.
10. Tanner was adopted as a baby, and we’ve always known we want to grow our family through adoption!

“Tanner makes the world a brighter place; he brings an energy and joy for life that lights up a room. Tanner has an engaging personality and is able to immediately connect with those around him — he fills the room with laughter, liveliness, and love. He strives to fill our home with love, safety, and happiness. Not to mention he is also an incredible chef and is always ready to whip up a delicious snack or full course meal, so everyone that visits our home is sure to leave with a full belly. I am truly lucky enough to have fallen in love with my best friend.

Tanner has the exceptional experience of being adopted as a newborn infant to two loving parents. His experiences and support from both friends and family throughout his life have shaped him into the incredible human he is today. We plan to share Tanner’s story and life openly within our growing family and demonstrate the gift, joy, and opportunities that adoption can bring. We are eternally grateful for the sacrifice his birth mother had to make to provide him with a life that brought the greatest opportunities and a family that loves and cherishes him every day.

Tanner has too many admirable characteristics to list, but the one that makes me feel like the luckiest guy in the world to be with him is his courage. Tanner is able to open his heart to those around him and sincerely understand their struggles and will courageously support and stand by their side. Tanner’s greatest strength has always been his ability to recognize and work towards building on the most important things this life has to offer: family, health, and love.

Tanner will be the most amazing father, he is so kind-hearted and always caring for those around him. He is always planning and preparing for our next adventure — whether it’s throwing together a quick picnic, or taking a walk from our house down to the beach, or preparing for a trip across the world to visit a new place, Tanner will have it planned out and ensure everyone has everything they need.

I love and respect Tanner so much and am so proud and thankful to have him in my life and I know that as our family grows we will all be so lucky to have him.”

Meet Wesley

“Wesley is one of the most loving and caring people anyone would ever meet. He cares deeply for his family and friends and always lets them know how much he cares about them. Wesley grew up in a family of nine children, and has a special relationship with each one of his siblings. We enjoy getting together with his family as much as possible, and I love seeing the special bond that they all have. Since Wesley was one of the older siblings, he’s always been a mentor for his younger siblings and someone they know they can always count on.

I feel so incredibly lucky to have Wesley in my life. He is always looking out for others and stands up for minorities and the underrepresented. He has a love of the environment and wants to make the world a better place. I love our frequent trips to the beach to go ‘treasure hunting’ where we pick up trash along our walk. He loves gardening and we love going to different nurseries by our house on the weekend to find a unique plant to bring home.

Wesley has a great spirit of adventure, and is always up for traveling somewhere new or having a unique experience. He has a passion for architecture and design, and enjoys strolling through the winding streets of a town in Europe, or touring a newly designed concert hall. He’s made significant improvements in every home we’ve ever owned including remodeling bathrooms and building an incredible roof deck at our former townhome in Dallas. In our home in Pacifica he’s designed an amazing space in our backyard that makes the most of the view of the ocean .

I know Wesley will be an amazing father. He has several nieces and nephews that absolutely adore him. He loves playing with kids, and goofing around with them. He’s got a great imagination and can make up a creative activity or game on the spot. When we’re with his nieces and nephews, Wesley always makes sure everyone is included in whatever we’re doing.

I love Wesley so much and am so excited to be parents together. He will be the best dad and the child we adopt will be so loved by him.”

We Are Adventurers

One of our family mottos is “Let’s be Adventurers!” Our family has been blessed with the ability to travel — a huge benefit of working for an airline is the whole family has access to flights that reach all around the world! We have taken full advantage of this benefit and have travelled to far away places, seeing and learning about new cultures, peoples, traditions, art, and architecture that we yearn to share with the child we adopt. Our spirit of adventure takes us to many places and includes our love to explore areas around our home in California and share in fun adventures with our nearby family and friends.

Our Home

We genuinely believe that anywhere our family is, that is where our heart and home will always be. We are grateful that our hard work has led us to plant our roots and own a beautiful home in the oceanside town of Pacifica on the northern coast of California, just 20 minutes south of San Francisco. Pacifica is the perfect place to raise a family and a diverse and exciting place to grow up, it is community oriented with families of all diversities both young and old. The neighborhood schools are top tier with both public and private options just walking distance from our home. The city hosts several fun festivals, one of our favorites is the annual Fog Festival which celebrates the fun event when fog rolls into the coast and the community fills the streets with fun games and activities for the whole family.

Our home is four bedrooms with two bathrooms and sits on a hill overlooking the nearby beach, which is only five minutes away. We love all the great outdoor activities around our home, including hiking, surfing, mountain biking, and picnics on the beach. One event that the city hosts at the beach that we always love to watch is the annual dog surfing contest — the waves nearby our home are mild and a great spot for dogs that surf! It’s always a fun activity and truly amazing to see dogs “hang-ten” on a surfboard.

There are so many wonderful things to say about our family, they are a big part of our lives. We love to spend time together and plan big family gatherings throughout the year. We enjoy sharing our lives with our family and have an incredible amount of support. When our family is together we always spend the days laughing, sharing stories, playing games and going on big adventures.

Wesley comes from a large family where he is the fourth child of nine; Tanner comes from a blended family and has four siblings. Between them all we have a huge network of family both near and far that are loving, kind, understanding, and fun! Most exciting is that we have 16 nieces and nephews and three more coming soon! Wesley’s brother lives nearby and he and his wife are having a baby all around the same time as Wesley’s sister and sister-in-law, we are excited to have so many nieces and nephews around the same age to grow up together and know that the cousins will be close throughout their lives.

We spend many of our summers up in Idaho close to Wesley’s family, at the lake house with his parents. Over the winter we see Tanner’s parents in Utah and go skiing and play in the snow. Tanner’s dad loves nature and owns several horses on a ranch in Colorado. We enjoy taking pack trips with the horses in the summer and exploring the beautiful Rocky Mountains. Most of all, we love hosting our family here in California to enjoy the beautiful scenery, trails, and beaches. Our families are supportive and excited to see us grow our family and become loving parents.

Not only have I witnessed Wesley and Tanner with my own children, but I have seen them around their many nieces and nephews. They are always wanting to help them learn and grow as individuals. They are always the ones down on the ground playing and making the kids laugh. Even when they are not around them, they are constantly speaking about how proud they are of them. From observing them with my children and others, I know they are ready and will be excellent parents. When I heard that Wesley and Tanner felt led to adopt a child, my heart was filled with joy just knowing how wonderful of parents they will be. No couple I know deserves to be parents as much as these two. They have been looking forward to this opportunity for a long time and I cannot wait to be a part of this journey with them.”

Tanner is the friend any person would want to have through good times and bad. His personality is magnetic and I always feel better after spending time with him. I admire his joy and determination. He is always laughing, resilient in the face of challenge, passionate, deeply caring, and a hard worker. Wes is the epitome of a classic father figure, and I joke he’s the ‘dad’ of the group. He’s incredibly reliable, resourceful, protective, and willing to put his needs second to others. I admire his positivity and altruism. He’s genuinely kind, incredibly smart, has a can-do attitude, sees the best in everything and will go out of his way to make sure one feels cared for and special.”

Wesley is the fourth child of nine siblings and I am the seventh. He was known as the fun brother who was always happy and willing to spend time with his younger siblings and family. We always knew Wesley would make a great father because of his constant sense to include and care for anyone around him. He has a magnetic personality; anyone who meets him wants to be around him, because he has a way of making people feel comfortable and happy. When we come to town he has a list of things to do that always involve my three children. Tanner is always accommodating and thoughtful. He is perpetually the first uncle to be found playing dress-up, having tea parties with my girls, and rolling trucks around with my son. My kids call Wesley and Tanner the “funcles” and are always asking when we can see them again. Both Wesley and Tanner come from families that love immensely and whole heartedly. The potential child they adopt will not only be greatly accepted by Wesley and Tanner but from both sides of their family. There will be no shortage of immense love for their child. If anyone deserves to adopt and raise a child, it is these two.”

They are a nonprofit organization offering free adoption information for pregnant women considering adoption, without ever putting any pressure on you to make a decision.

Should you decide on adoption, FIA will provide you with the choices you have in creating an adoption plan that fits YOU and your needs. FIA will offer you great resources such as free counseling and free legal assistance. They will also support you with medical and living expenses, as the law allows.
